I’m not even sure if this is worth documenting any more as there is so little running going on in my life right now! This week saw me run 3 miles, taking my grand total mileage to August to a massive 32 miles! Barely more than the marathon itself, in a whole month!
I’m still suffering from sinusitis which is now entering it’s third week although hopefully is on the way out, I just can’t seem to shake it off! My knee feels like it’s improving, but it’s still not right so my running has been restricted to one short run this week again.
Instead of running I’ve been getting into the Kinetic Revolution 30 day program now, I started it after I saw it on Maria’s blog and thought it would be a really good way to help me ease back into running, and hopefully help to prevent any further injuries. The first 7 days were all mobility and balance focused, so plenty of stretches and single leg balance drills, I really enjoyed the workouts they took me just over 20 minutes and by the end of the week I could definitely notice a difference. The second week is more focused on running specific strength work, which I’m looking forward to, and I might do the mobility drills a few times a week in addition.
I’ve done plenty of walking this week, but not much in the way of running. I went for my first run in 2 weeks on Wednesday, doing an easy 3 miles, I had no knee pain during the run, but my knee was so stiff and sore for the rest of the day which was not a good sign.
I was going to attempt a longer run yesterday but I was so hungover and had such a headache after hitting my head in a drunken stupor the night before that I didn’t think it was worth it. I spent Saturday with uni friends at the childhood museum which was great fun, and then we went out in the night, where we discovered we were going to be bridesmaids for my friend Cristie’s wedding, we were all mega excited, and celebrated in style, I proceeded to have one too many margaritas! Getting home to receive this enormous bag of days from the other half was the best thing ever though!
Thankfully I ran 8 miles this morning, and while the knee was sore it wasn’t painful which is an improvement. I bought an ultimate performance patella support, which really seemed to help. I’ve booked in to see my physio tomorrow morning, so hopefully will get some clues as to what is going on. I know that sitting really aggravates it, and if I’m stationary for more than 30-40 minutes I really notice it. It’s a little sore and stiff now after the run today, so it’s still definitely not right.
I’m hoping I can get a bit more running done over the next week. We are (finally) moving into our house tomorrow, after 4 weeks of being homeless, I cannot wait to get settled in and get all our stuff back on Wednesday. Hopefully I will be able to go for some cycles to try and get some sort of cardiovascular work going, as after doing pretty much nothing for about 3 weeks I’m not feeling fighting fit!
Without running, I’ve been filling my time with lots of fun stuff. Well apart from the last week which was assignment/exam revision hell! I am all finished for 4 weeks now, and had a great weekend with friends and the other half to make the most of being free!
I had the nicest day yesterday, we had a lovely walk along the canal and then went to digital revolution exhibit at the Barbican which was so much fun, I could have stayed and played on Pacman and the Sims all day. We ended up having cake tapas from cookies and scream- yes we pretty much bought everything in the store, including the above: Cinnamon ice bun, Bowser (cookie within a brownie!) and almond plum blondie and 3 unpictured cookies! We had a little bit of everything to celebrate our impending house move! They were all amazing!
I’m really looking forward to moving into our new place and actually having a kitchen again, we won’t have a fridge/freezer until we order one, so will be slightly restricted but I’m sure we can get creative over the next couple of days without one! Hopefully once we are settled there we be a lot more running, cooking and blogging too!
